Tennessee Golfers Summer Update
As the summer comes to a close many Tennessee golfers are competing in tournaments across the world and across the state to prepare for the upcoming season.
Senior Charlie Ford is competing at the 24th Annual World University Games held in Bangkok, Thailand which began August 8th and will continue to the 18th. The golf competition began Tuesday and will consist of four rounds through Friday at the Watermill Golf & Gardens.
Ford stands in 15th place after the second round at 2-over-par with a scorecard of 71-75--146. The third round is scheduled to begin Thursday morning.
Here in Tennessee, four UT golfers began competition as the Tennessee State Amateur Championships got underway Tuesday at Belle Meade Country Club, a par-72, 6,885-yard course, in Nashville, Tenn.
A cut was made after Wednesday???s second round with both sophomore James Brannen and redshirt-freshman Cameron Lawrence missing the cut at 10 over and 8 over, respectively.
Senior Philip Pettitt paced the group, tied for 18th after shooting an even-par 72-72--144 in both rounds.
Freshman and Greenbriar, Tenn., native Justin Walker sits a 1-over-par and tied for 21st place after firing a 76-69--145.
Pettitt and Walker begin their third round Thursday morning at 10:20. The championships conclude on Friday.
