Conkic Wins Singles Title at Las Vegas
November 04, 2007 | Men's Tennis
Tennessee men's tennis player Boris Conkic won his fourth straight match Sunday to capture the singles title at the UNLV Fall Classic in Las Vegas.
???It???s always great for the Vols to win tournaments," head coach Sam Winterbotham said. "Boris is playing the quality of tennis that we hope for. He had a great tournament, he beat another highly ranked player this weekend. I think that gives him two wins this season over top-30 players. It is great for a freshman to come in and be able to have that type of production."
??
Conkic, a freshman from Novi Sad, Serbia, defeated UNLV's Luca Barlocchi in three sets to win the fist tournament of his collegiate career. The UT freshman dropped the first set but battled back to win the second and then dominated the final set to win going away 5-7, 7-5, 6-2.
??
Conkic and teammate Davey Sandgren had advanced to the championship match in doubles but the duo had to withdraw from the tournament after Sandgren was unable to play. Sandgren turned his ankle during his singles semifinal match on Saturday and was unable to effectively move on it to play Sunday.

The Tennessee men's tennis team is now done with its schedule for the fall season. The team will begin its spring season in January when it travels to New Orleans for the SEC Men's Coaches Indoor Championships.
