Rogers, Smith Advance to Challenger Semis

Current Vol J.P. Smith and former Vol and All-America Ben Rogers advanced to
the semifinals of the Knoxville Challenger Wednesday.
Rogers and Smith face Jaime Baker and Brendan Evans in the semifinals on
Friday. The UT duo advanced after Michael Russell withdrew from the tournament
because of illness. Russell and his partner Izak Van der Merwe are ranked
479th in the world in doubles.
Smith who scored the biggest upset of the tournament Tuesday when he defeated
Zach Fleishman, fell to former Illinois All-America Kevin Anderson in the
second round. Anderson defeated Smith 6-2, 6-4.
