Tweedt Advances To Quarterfinals At GT Invite

Tennessee freshman Jeremy Tweedt won two matches Friday to advance to the quarterfinals of the singles ???A??? draw at the Georgia Tech Fall Invitational in Atlanta, Ga.
Tweedt came-from-behind to defeat Oscar Machuca of Southern Mississippi 2-6, 6-3, 6-4 in the first round. In the second round, the Paris, France, native defeated Louisville???s Kenneth Nordheim 6-2, 6-2. Tweedt faces the tournament???s No. 1-seed Jaime Hunt of Georgia in the quarterfinals.
Sophomore Matt Brewer won his first match in the singles ???A??? bracket over Joris De Weerdt of Georgia Southern 6-3, 6-7, 6-2. In the second round, Brewer fell to Georgia Tech???s Jose Muguruza 7-5, 6-4.
Freshman William Lang dropped his first round match in the singles ???B??? bracket 6-2, 6-1 to Ben Clos of Louisville. In the consolation bracket, the Memphis native defeated W. Lyons of Davidson 6-4, 3-6, 6-1. Lang and Tweedt begin doubles play tomorrow in the ???B??? bracket.
