Three Vols Win At ITA SE Regional

Three Tennessee freshmen picked up victories Thursday on the first day of the ITA Southeast Indoor Regionals in Lexington, Ky.
Boris Conkic, who was declared eligible by the NCAA just last week, defeated Jordan Delass of Samford 1-6, 7-5, 6-4. Conkic faces Carl Sundberg of Miami in the second round.
William Lang continues to improve during his rookie campaign breezing past Maurice Wamukowa of Florida A&M 6-3, 6-2. The Memphis native faces Houssam Yassine of Alabama in the second round Friday morning.
Jeremy Tweedt defeated SEC foe Martel Campbell of LSU 7-5, 3-6, 7-5 in the first round. The Paris, France native faces UT-Chattanooga???s Peter Sauska in the second round.
Chris Racz, Davey Sandgren and J.P. Smith all received byes into the round of 64. The trio will begin play Friday afternoon after the round of 128 is played that morning. Friday night will also mark the beginning of doubles play. Tennessee has entered three doubles teams into the invitational.
The Wilson/ITA Southeast Indoor Regionals has 150 tennis players from 28 schools entered in the tournament. Twenty-six of the preseason ITA top-125 are entered in the tournament.
