Vols Drop Four Singles Matches at Fluitt Invitational

The Tennessee men's tennis team got off to a slow start Saturday at the Charles Fluitt Invitational held in Lexington, Ky., losing all four of its singles matches.

Chris Racz, ranked 84th in the nation, lost to tournament-host Kentucky's, Brad Cox 6-3, 7-6(7) in the first round. Boris Conkic, a freshman from Novi Sad, Serbia, made his debut as a Vol Saturday but the Vol netter fell to Illinois' Billy Heiser in 4-6, 6-3, 7-6.

In the round of 16, Davey Sandgren and J.P Smith fell to a pair of ranked Baylor Bears. Sandgren dropped his match to 110th-ranked Matt Brown 6-4, 7-5. Smith lost to 78th-ranked Denes Lukacs 6-3, 3-6, 6-2.

The Fluitt Invitational is one of the toughest draws the Vols will see all fall with 13 of the 20 competitors ranked in the ITA singles rankings.
