VOLS FINISH NINTH AT SEC CHAMPIONSHIPS

The Tennessee men's golf team shot a final round 19-over-par 299 and finished ninth as the 2006 SEC Championships concluded Sunday at the Sea Island Golf Club in St. Simon Island, Ga. The Vols finished with a tournament scorecard of 286-290-299--875.
Freshman Chris Paisley was the top finisher for the Volunteers, shooting at 8-over-par final round to finish in a tie for 33rd place. He finished the tournament at 8-over-par and with a final scorecard of 72-68-78--218.
Jonathan Mount had the best final round for Tennessee. Mount had two birdies and fired a 3-over-par 73 to end the tournament tied for 35th.
Tino Weiss also finished 35th for the Big Orange. A final-round 6-over-par gave him a tournament scorecard of 69-74-76--219 and his best finish of the year. His 54-hole score of 219 is one stroke off his season best.
Charlie Ford finished the tournament in a tie for 44th after firing a final-round 5-over-par 75.
Ben Spickard rounded out the lineup for the Vols. Spickard regained his first-round form and shot a 5-over-par 75 to finish tied for 59th.
Florida's Brett Stegmaier fired a final-round 3-under-par 67 to take the individual crown with a three-round score of 205. In second, with a score of 206, was Georgia's Brian Harman. Georgia's Chris Kirk and Alabama's Matthew Swan finished tied for third, two strokes back of Stegmaier.
With the help of three players in the top five, Georgia went wire-to-wire to take home the 2006 SEC Championships. The Bulldogs finished the tournament 13-under-par and had a final scorecard of 276-282-269--827. Florida finished in second with a three-round score of
