VOLS FINISH IN EIGHTH PLACE AT MERCEDES-BENZ COLLEGIATE CHAMPIONSHIP

PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. - The Tennessee men's golf team shot the second-best final-round score to move up two spots and finish in eighth place at the Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Championships Tuesday. The Vols finished the tournament with a final scorecard of 313-301-302--916.
Charlie Ford set the pace for the Volunteers by shooting a five-over-par final round to finish in a tie for 11th place. He finished the tournament at ten-over-par and with a final scorecard of 78-71-77--226.
Lloyd Campbell was next for the Volunteers. The senior finished the final round seven-over-par and in a tie for 25th place.
Tino Weiss had the best final round for the Volunteers. Weiss had three birdies on the day and shot an even-par in the final round to elevate him into a tie for 45th place.
Ben Spickard finished the tournament in a tie for 50th place. In the final round, he earned his lowest score of the tournament, shooting a two-over-par 74.
John Brannen, competing as an individual, shot a nine-over-par 81 to finish the tournament in a tie for 71st.
UCLA retained its second-round lead and finished as tournament champion with a final score of 896. Texas Tech followed in second place, with Alabama, South Carolina and Georgia State rounding out the top five.
Oscar Floren of Texas Tech took home the individual crown by one stroke over Erik Flores of UCLA. Dustin Johnson of Costal Carolina and Gator Todd of Alabama tied for third.
Next up for the Volunteers is the Ashworth Invitational, Feb. 27 and 28 at North Ranch Country Club in Los Angeles, Calif.
