VOLS TO COMPETE IN PRESTIGIOUS CARPET CAPITAL COLLEGIATE

The Tennessee men's golf team joins a stellar field this weekend to compete in the Carpet Capital Collegiate hosted by Georgia Tech in Rocky Face, Ga. The Carpet Capital Collegiate is being played at The Farm, a 6,896-yard, par-72 course.
Georgia, the defending national champion and current No. 1 team in the nation headlines the teams participating. Georgia Tech, Tennessee, Florida and Duke round out the top-10 squads participating. Tennessee is currently ranked No. 4 in the Golfweek/Sagarin ratings.
Jonathan Mount mans the No. 1 position for the Volunteers. Mount has finished in the top-five in all three of the tournaments. Mount tied for top honors at the Shoal Creek Intercollegiate.
Ben Spickard occupies the No. 2 position. The Roswell, Ga., native has been very consistent this season, with his top finish coming at the Shoal Creek Intercollegiate.
Phillip Pettitt starts at the No. 3 position. Pettitt tied with teammate Lloyd Campbell for top honors at the Coca-Cola Tournament of Champions in Sept. Pettitt and Campbell's score of 201 broke the previous best three-round score by a Vol by four strokes.
Campbell mans the No. 4 position. The Kent, England native has shot par or better in four of his nine rounds this season. Tino Weiss rounds out the Tennessee lineup. Weiss has not played in the last two tournaments for Tennessee.
Last season, the Vols fired a 303-315-294--912 to finish 15th. Last season Pettitt and Campbell had the best scores for Tennessee. Pettitt fired a 74-77-74--225 to finish in 29th place. Campbell finished with a scorecard of 74-77-75--226 to finish in a tie for 32nd place.
The tournament runs Saturday through Sunday with two rounds being played Saturday and the final round on Sunday.
