Bio
During the 2024 Brazilian Swimming Championships, VFL Kayky Mota punched his ticket to the Paris Games in the 100 fly after winning the event. It will be his first trip to the Summer Games. On the international stage, he has tallied two top-10 finishes in the 100 fly in the past two years. A member of the Vols team from 2019-21, he earned All-SEC Second Team accolades along with two bronze medals. Throughout his career he earned three All-American certificates and boasted seven top-10 times in UT history.

2021-22 - GRADUATE
- Top times from season: 100 fly (45.72), 200 fly (1:43.36), 200 IM (1:45.73).
- Earned All-America status in the 400 medley relay.
- Part of the 400 medley relay which improved its school-record time in the event with a 3:04.01 mark.
- Helped the Vols to their best SEC Championships finish since 2001, tying for second.
- Scored 158 points overall for the team, including 50 individual points.
- Won bronze in the 200 medley relay (1:23.35) and 400 medley relay (3:04.74) at the SEC Championships, swimming the fly leg in both events.
- The 200 medley relay's time of 1:23.35 marked the third-fastest time in program history.
- Scored a sixth-place finish in the 100 fly (45.83) with a season-best time during prelims (45.72); Also finished sixth in the 200 fly (1:43.36) and advanced to the C finals in the 200 IM (1:45.73).
- Recorded a season best in the 100 fly (46.16) and placed first in the 200 fly (1:45.95) against Carson-Newman (1/29/22).
- Finished second place in the 100 fly (47.42) and third in the 200 fly (1:48.43) in a win over Georgia (1/22/22).
- Took first place in the 100 fly touching the wall with a time of 47.81 over Duke and Queens (1/8/22).
- Notched two season best times at the Tennessee Invitational (11/18-20/22) in the 100 fly (46.19) and 200 IM (1:48.29).
- Had a dominant showing in the 200 fly, notching an NCAA B Cut time of 1:45.76 at NC State (10/15/2021).
- Finished first in the 100 fly (46.54) and second in the 200 fly (1:46.06) against Louisville (10/21/21).
- Posted the fastest mark in the 100 fly (46.79) and placed second in the 200 fly (1:46.33) at Kentucky (11/5/21).
- Placed first in the 100 butterfly with a time of 47.61 at UNC Wilmington (10/1/2021).
2020-21 - SENIOR
- Top times from season: 100 fly (45.50), 200 fly (1:42.58), 200 IM (1:44.32).
- His 200 fly (1:42.58) and 200 IM (1:44.32) times from the Tennessee invitational ranked fourth in program history when he finished his career.
- Earned All-America honors in the 100 fly after touching the wall in 45.92 and the 200 medley relay (1:24.19) to finish 16th overall in both events at the NCAA Championships.
- Placed fifth in the 200 medley relay (1:24.39), sixth in the 100 fly (46.16) and 400 medley relay (3:08.06) and was seventh in the 200 fly (1:44.05) during the SEC Championships.
- Won nine events throughout the season.
- Won the 100 fly and 200 fly during UT's meet against Georgia (1/23/21).
- Swept the butterfly events in both of UT's wins over Kentucky on Jan. 15, 2021, and Oct. 20, 2020.
- Won the 100 fly (45.50), 200 fly (1:42.58) and 200 IM (1:44.32) during the Tennessee Invitational (11/19-21/20); all three times marked career bests.
2019-20 - JUNIOR
SEC MEET RECAP
- Had a solid meet for UT with a fourth place finish in the 200 butterfly (1:42.66), which is the third-fastest time in school history
- Scored a fifth place finish in the 100 butterfly (45.76)
- Placed 15th in the 200 IM (1:45.70)
- As a mid-year addition, Mota joined the team in time to swim in the Vols' final dual meets at Georgia and against Florida
- Mota swam just the 100 and 200 butterfly events for the Vols during the regular season
