- Star player at nearby Christian Academy of Knoxville
- Top 500 player by Perfect Game and No. 5 rated outfielder in the state of Tennessee
- Three-time Perfect Game Preseason All-American
- Helped lead the Warriors to three straight state titles (2017-19)
- Despite missing a good portion of his senior season due to injury, Keener still was named a Knoxville News Sentinel All-PrepXtra first-team selection in 2019 after batting .402 with 25 walks and 23 stolen bases while also chipping in on the mound
- Three-time Knoxville News Sentinel All-PrepXtra selection (2017-19)
- Tennessee Baseball Coaches Association Division II-A All-State selection as a junior after batting .415 with 44 RBI and 57 runs scored
- Was also an all-state performer as a sophomore and earned back-to-back District MVP honors in 2017 and 2018
