Football Set To Begin Preseason Camp, Watch Media Day at 12:40 p.m. ET Tuesday

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- Tennessee football reports for its 130th season as the Volunteers will hold their annual local media day Tuesday before beginning preseason camp practice Wednesday.
Head coach Josh Heupel, who enters his sixth season at the helm, will address media at 12:40 p.m. ET Tuesday followed by new defensive coordinator Jim Knowles and offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach Joey Halzle. The local media day will be streamed on Tennessee Athletics' YouTube channel and on @Vol_Football social media platforms.
The Vols wrapped up their offseason program last week under new director of sports performance Derek Owings, who arrived from national champion Indiana in January.
Offensively, the Vols bring back a 1,000-yard rusher (DeSean Bishop), a veteran offensive line (86 combined career starts) and three of their top four pass catchers from a season ago (Braylon Staley, Mike Matthews, Ethan Davis). Defensively, UT boasts a loaded linebacker unit led by All-SEC senior Arion Carter, while the secondary returns former Freshman All-America cornerback Ty Redmond and safety Edrees Farooq. Knowles' unit brought in several multi-year transfer starters, including cornerback Kayin Lee (Auburn), safety TJ Metcalf (Arkansas/Michigan), safety Qua Moss (Kansas State), linebacker Amare Campbell (Penn State) and defensive end Jordan Norman (South Alabama/Tulane).
Tennessee will practice Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday at Haslam Field. The practices are closed to the public. The Vols host Furman in their season opener at 3:30 p.m. ET on Sept. 5 in Neyland Stadium.
