Webb Announces Signing of Highly Touted Transfer Sautron

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee men's golf program made a splash in the transfer portal on Friday as head coach Brennan Webb announced the signing of Rudy Sautron.
Sautron joins the Vols as a senior after spending the previous two seasons at the University of Nebraska, where he notched two of the best campaigns in program history. Originally from Reunion Island, France, Sautron spent his freshman year at Division II Cameron University before joining the Cornhuskers.
"We are excited to add an elite talent like Rudy to our program," Webb said. "For a proven winner like him to see the value of what our program can provide speaks volumes to what opportunities are here for aspiring golfers. His maturity and determination to be the best will be incredible assets to our program. I love how determined he is to help us achieve our ultimate goal of winning a national championship. The first thing he said when he called to let me know he was choosing Tennessee was, 'Are you ready to go win a natty?'"
In his junior season with the Cornhuskers, Sautron matched a program record with three individual wins, earning medalist honors at the Git-R-Done Invitational, the Hal Williams Collegiate, and the Johnnie-O at Sea Island. A stellar regular season saw Sautron earn an individual bid to the NCAA Marana Regional, where he tied for 25th place.
As a sophomore, Sautron wasted little time making an impact for Nebraska. In his Division I debut, he claimed the individual title at the Gopher Invitational, shooting 5-under-par. It was the first of four individual triumphs over two years with the Cornhuskers.
The list of accolades for Sautron over his time with Nebraska includes a spot on the 2026 All-Big Ten First Team, 2026 PING All-Midwest Region honors, a 2025 GCAA Scholar All-American nod, and four Big Ten Golfer of the Week selections.
The stats tell a similar story, as Sautron set the Nebraska single season scoring average record in the 2025-26 season with a mark of 71.27. In the 2024-25 season, he posted the best scoring average by a sophomore in program history, with a final tally of 71.70.
Additionally, he set new program records for single round and 54-hole scores. Sautron etched his name in the record book with a 9-under-par 63 at the 2024 Steelwood Collegiate, while his 18-under-par 198 output at the 2026 Johnnie-O at Sea Island is the low 54-hole mark. Sautron closed his two-year Nebraska career with 18 top-25 finishes and nine top-10 finishes.
During his freshman year at Division II Cameron University, Sautron quickly separated himself as one of the nation's best. A long list of honors in 2024 include being named to the Division II GCAA All-Freshman Team, Division II PING All-South Central Region Team, and Lone Star Conference Freshman of the Year honors. Over 32 rounds at Cameron, Sautron posted a 71.78 scoring average and 16 rounds of par or better, earning a top-10 finish in eight of 11 tournaments.
Sautron joins an elite group of newcomers for the Vols, alongside incoming freshmen Tyler Watts and Pennson Badgett. Watts is ranked No. 13 in the World Amateur Golf Rankings and made the cut in two PGA TOUR events last fall. Badgett will arrive following a decorated junior career featuring three AJGA victories and an appearance at the 2024 Junior Presidents Cup alongside Watts.
