Lance Simpson Named to All-SEC Second Team
May 07, 2026 | Men's Golf
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Southeastern Conference announced its men's golf postseason awards on Thursday, with Tennessee's Lance Simpson earning All-SEC Second Team honors.
A redshirt senior, Simpson tops off an impressive Tennessee career with his first ever selection to an All-SEC team, earning a spot on the second team. He becomes the first Vol to garner All-SEC honors since 2023, when Jake Hall and Bryce Lewis were each named second team all-conference. Simpson is the 42nd Tennessee men's golfer to earn All-SEC recognition, bringing the program's total number of honors to 65.
Simpson has been statistically dominant in the 2025-26 season, racking up a team-best 70.17 season scoring average and team-highs in rounds of par or better (19), rounds in the 60s (14), and top ten finishes (5).
He earned his first career individual victory at March's Pauma Valley Invitational, where he closed at 10-under-par to also lead Tennessee to a team victory. The victory rectified a near-miss in the fall, as Simpson lost the individual title in a playoff at the Fighting Irish Classic. He also opened the spring with a career-best 14-under-par performance at the Puerto Rico Classic, where he tied for fifth place.
Simpson and the Vols will return to action on Monday, May 18, as the team gears up for the Bryan NCAA Regional, where Tennessee will look to advance to the NCAA Championships for the third consecutive season.
