Vols Add Two-Time A-10 All-Defensive Team Honoree Miles Rubin
April 13, 2026 | Men's Basketball
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – University of Tennessee head men's basketball coach Rick Barnes announced Monday the signing of Miles Rubin.
A member of the Atlantic 10 All-Defensive Team in both 2023-24 and 2024-25 while at Loyola Chicago, Rubin joins the Volunteers as a senior center with one season of eligibility remaining.
"We are pleased to have Miles and his family join us at Tennessee. He is an incredibly tough and hard-working player who loves to be a star in his role," Barnes said. "Miles is an ideal fit in our defensive scheme as a sensational rim protector who can also defend one-on-one in the post and guard on the perimeter. Offensively, he is an impressive lob threat with really good hands, nice touch around the rim and quality passing ability. Miles is excited to play on a big stage, compete daily against elite competition and make a run in the NCAA Tournament, as well as work with Garrett Medenwald in the weight room."
In just three years of college, Rubin has amassed 237 blocked shots, the fourth-most of any active player in Division I (as of the end of the 2025-26 season). That mark is 31 greater than any other non-senior in the country. It is also 61 above any other player in Loyola Chicago history and the No. 16 mark on the A-10 career list.
The 6-foot-10, 220-pounder carries a 2.3 blocks per game average. That figure is third-best among Division I players. He has averaged 2.3 blocks per game in each of his three collegiate seasons, swatting at least 76 shots in each of them.
Rubin, who has finished top-20 nationally in block percentage every year of his career according to KenPom, has blocked multiple shots 70 times, with three-plus in 42 outings, four-plus in 23 and five-plus in seven. The former two marks both lead the country over the last three seasons (2023-26).
Additionally, Rubin sports a stellar career field-goal percentage of 64.7, putting him No. 13 among active players at the Division I level. His clip from the floor has eclipsed 58.0 percent each year of his career.
Rubin owns 45 double-digit scoring performances as a collegian, with 15-plus points in 14 contests and 20-plus in three. He has grabbed double-figure rebounds on 15 occasions and racked up 10 double-doubles.
The Chicago native is coming off a strong junior campaign, averaging 11.3 points, 7.1 rebounds, 2.3 blocks (No. 12 in Division I) and 2.3 assists in 29.7 minutes per game. He started all 33 games for the Ramblers, shooting 58.5 percent from the field.
Rubin scored in double digits 19 times in 2025-26, including 15-plus nine times and a career-high-tying 21 in a Jan. 30 contest at VCU. That matchup was also one of 10 as a junior in which he had double-figure rebounds and one of six in which he had a double-double.
As a sophomore in 2024-25, Rubin put up 9.6 points, 5.5 rebounds, 2.3 blocks (No. 13 in Division I) and 1.3 assists per game. He started all 37 games, tied for the most of any player in the A-10, for the 25-win Ramblers and shot a dazzling 71.4 percent from the field, a mark that would have led the nation if qualified.
Rubin recorded 85 blocked shots that season and had three-plus in 16 contests, with both marks tied for sixth in Division I. He scored in double figures on 19 occasions, including posting 21 versus Oakland in a Dec. 22, 2024, contest versus Oakland in Honolulu.
During his freshman campaign in 2023-24, Rubin tallied 6.2 points, 4.7 rebounds and 2.3 blocks (No. 14 in Division I) in 17.8 minutes per game. He started 30 games and shot 66.4 percent from the floor, a clip that would have ranked fifth in the country if eligible.
Rubin earned A-10 All-Rookie Team recognition and collected one A-10 Rookie of the Week distinction, as he aided Loyola Chicago to 23 victories, 13 greater than its number the year before his arrival. His 14.1 block percentage led the nation, per KenPom, and he earned the first of two straight A-10 All-Defensive Team nods.
Across his three years with the Ramblers, Rubin appeared in all 103 contests and made 100 starts, including opening 97 consecutive affairs, dating to Nov. 28, 2023. He also excels in the classroom, garnering CSC Academic All-District and A-10 All-Academic Team plaudits in 2025-26.
A consensus 3-star recruit coming out of Simeon Career Academy, Rubin finished top-200 nationally in both the 247Sports Composite and the Rivals Industry Ranking. The former listed him as the sixth-best prospect in Illinois, with the latter slotting him eighth.
Rubin aided Simeon to a 32-4 record and an IHSA 3A state title game appearance as a senior, posting 20 points, eight blocks and six rebounds in a 60-42 win over St. Ignatius College Prep in the semifinals. The team went 28-7 and made the state semifinals during his junior campaign, as well.
The 2022-23 Chicago Sun-Times All-State honoree graduated from the same high school as NBA players such as Nick Anderson, Talen Horton-Tucker, Zach Norvell Jr., Kendruck Nunn, Jabari Parker, Derrick Rose and Bobby Simmons. He also competed on the AAU circuit for MeanStreets.
Rubin's twin brother, Wes, spent two seasons (2023-25) at Northern Iowa, redshirting the first year and playing in 14 games during the following campaign. His older sister, Eva, played at Arizona State (2017-19) and Illinois (2020-22), totaling 71 appearances and 29 starts.
Seven letter winners from the state of Illinois precede Rubin on Rocky Top. The list includes John Martin, the 1961-62 team captain, and Admiral Schofield, a two-time All-SEC choice who amassed 1,570 points playing for Barnes.
Both 247Sports and Rivals rate Rubin as a four-star transfer prospect, with the former slotting him at No. 76 overall and No. 19 among power forwards.
Rubin is the second transfer to sign with Tennessee this offseason, joining MVC Player of the Year Tyler Lundblade. The Volunteers are also set to add three high school prospects: Marquis Clark, Manny Green and Ralph Scott.
