ATHENS, Ga. -- Three more divers earned their spot at NCAAs, with all three coming in the men's 3-meter. Bennett Greene and Thomas Ciprick kept their strong week going by qualifying in the 3-meter, while Frazer Tavener joined them by securing his trip to the championship meet at the Zone B Diving Championships.
Â
After punching their ticket in the 1-meter already, Greene and Ciprick only needed to finish in the top 12 in the 3-meter to qualify for NCAAs. Greene notched his place in the 3-meter by finishing with a combined score of 865.75, good for second overall in the event. For Ciprick, he finished just behind Greene in third place, tallying a combined score across prelims and finals of 864.05. Tavener was the third Vol to finish in the top five in the 3-meter, with the New Zealander tallying a score of 807.50 for fifth. Tavener now joins a list of five Vols and Lady Vols that are representing the program on the diving side at NCAA Championships.
Â
Greene and Ciprick also moved up the top ten lists in the discipline. Greene put up a score of 437.20 in the prelims, moving the sophomore to sixth in program history. For Ciprick, his final round score of 435.70 allowed him to make his debut in the top ten in the 3-meter all-time, now sitting seventh.
Â
Owen Redfearn also competed in the 3-meter for Tennessee and just missed out on earning a spot in finals, placing 21st with a score of 344.00. Emma Rhines was the lone Lady Vol to compete in the Platform. The freshman put up a strong effort to get to the finals of the competition with a 210.50 in prelims. Unfortunately, she fell just short of a qualifying spot (top seven), taking 15th overall on a combined score of 438.85.
