Kerr & Sutton Earn SEC Weekly Honors

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- Two Tennessee volleyball players earned SEC weekly honors as announced by the conference on Monday. Sophomore middle blocker Chelsea Sutton was named Defensive Player of the Week and redshirt junior setter Caroline Kerr earned Setter of the Week honors.
Sutton was strong at the net, finishing the week with 15 blocks. Sutton earned five against Georgia Tech, while adding a career-high 15 kills. Sutton then followed that performance with four total blocks against Delaware State and six against St. John's. Sutton leads the Lady Vols with 34 total blocks, averaging 1.36 blocks per set. Her 34 blocks rank eighth in the conference, while her 1.36 blocks per set rank sixth. Sutton has also been effective on the offensive end, ranking third on the team with 55 kills and leading the team with a .522 hitting percentage. Sutton's .522 hitting percentage is the third-best nationally and leads the SEC.Â
Kerr started the week notching her 14th career double-double with 53 assists and 13 digs. 53 assists was also the 10th time Kerr had 50 or more assists in a match. Kerr followed that up with 32 assists in a sweep of Delaware State. Kerr leads the team with 224 assists and is averaging 8.96 assists per set, helping lead an offense that has a .355 hitting percentage. Her 224 assists and 8.96 assist per set are also top marks in the conference, both ranking eighth.
The Lady Vols are back in action this later week, hosting Rider on Thursday, Sept. 18. First serve is scheduled for 6:30 and will be streamed on SECN+.
