Herrington Advances to Finals at 125th U.S. Amateur Championship

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. - Tennessee men's golfer Jackson Herrington advanced to the 125th U.S. Amateur Championship finals at The Olympic Club and is set to take on Mason Howell on Sunday.Â
Herrington becomes the third Vol golfer in the program's history to advance to the U.S. Amateur finals with Oliver Goss (2013) and Eric Rebmann (1987) previously doing so.Â
By way of qualifying for the final match, Herrington has earned a spot in both the 2026 Masters Tournament, as well as the 2026 U.S. Open.Â
The Dickson, Tennessee, native earned his way into the championship match after winning in the semifinals over North Carolina's Niall Shiels Donegan, 1up.Â
Herrington started his match down two through two holes and then went on to to go up two through the 15th hole. Shiels Donegan then made a late-round push to level the match going into the final hole. Herrington then put it away on the 18th hole with a birdie.Â
With exemption into two of golf's major tournaments in 2026, Herrington joins his teammate Lance Simpson as UT golfers to play in a major championship under head coach Brennan Webb.Â
