Trio of Vols Set to Compete in 125th U.S. Amateur at The Olympic Club
August 10, 2025 | Men's Golf
SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. - Three Tennessee men's golfers are set to compete in the 125th U.S. Amateur at The Olympic Club.Â
Jackson Herrington, Bruce Murphy and Lance Simpson are in the field for the event.Â
Herrington is set to make his second consecutive U.S. Amateur appearance. At the 2024 U.S. Amateur, the Dickson, Tennessee, native advanced to the Round of 32 and in the process, recorded a hole-in-one.Â
Murphy and Simpson will make their U.S. Amateur debuts.
Despite not playing in a U.S. Amateur, Simpson is no stranger to high-level events this summer. The rising redshirt senior was one of 15 amateurs in the field at the U.S. Open in June and won the Trans-Mississippi Amateur Championship in July.Â
This year's U.S. Amateur runs Aug. 11-17, with the first two days featuring 18 holes of stroke play apiece before moving into the match play portion of the event.Â
The Olympic Club's Lake Course will serve as the championship venue as the club's Ocean Course is this year's stroke-play co-host venue.
