Men's Golf Central: NCAA Amherst Regional

AMHERST, Va. - The No. 5-seed Tennessee men's golf team is set to begin NCAA play this week, competing in the Amherst Regional.
The Amherst Regional was originally scheduled to run Monday through Wednesday with 18-holes each day, but round one has been moved up to Sunday due to potential inclement weather in the area. Play resumes on Monday, with teams attempting to complete as many holes as possible. The schedule for Tuesday and Wednesday will be evaluated at the end of play on Monday.
Five other regionals across the country are also taking place this week. The top five teams from each regional will then advance to the NCAA Championships—set to be contested from May 23-28 at Omni La Costa Resort and Spa's Champions Course in Carlsbad, California.
This week's NCAA Regional is set to be contested at the par-70, 7,212-yard Poplar Grove Golf Club. The Sam Snead and Ed Carton-designed course consists of bentgrass greens and fairways and is tucked away in the Blue Ridge Mountains.
Tennessee has qualified for the NCAA Regionals in each of Brennan Webb's seasons as head coach (with the exception of 2020's cancelation).
Last season, the Vols advanced to the NCAA Championships after a second-place showing in the Austin Regional.
THE VOLS' LINEUP
Lance Simpson
Simpson has finished inside the top 25 in seven out of 10 starts this season while holding a 70.46 season stroke average.
Christian Pardue
The freshman will make his second lineup start this season and enters NCAA Regionals with four top-25 showings.
Josh Hill
Throughout the season, Hill has posted 17 rounds of par or lower and a pair of top-10 finishes.
Bruce Murphy
The Atlanta, Georgia, native made his way back into the lineup at the SEC Championships and is geared up to make his second consecutive lineup start.
Jackson Herrington
The freshman was UT's highest finisher at the SEC Championships after shooting even-par overall.
