Tomase Shines on Senior Day, #6 Lady Vols Fall to #9 Auburn, 4-2

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The sixth-ranked Tennessee women's tennis team dropped a 4-2 decision to ninth-ranked Auburn on Sunday afternoon at Goodfriend Tennis Center.
The Lady Vols (15-5, 9-4 SEC) lost the doubles point for the first time in seven matches to the Tigers (20-5, 9-4 SEC), who secured wins on courts two and three. The No. 38-ranked pair of Catherine Aulia and Leyla Britez Risso fell to Angella Okutoyi and Merna Refaat, 6-4. Conley Raidt and Saray Yli-Piipari dropped a 6-3 decision to Ava Espositio and Maria Garcia.
In singles competition, seventh-ranked Tomase dominated atop the lineup, cruising to a 6-0, 6-1 win over No. 3 DJ Bennett, which marked the highest-ranked dual match victory of her career. Raidt followed with a 6-0, 6-3 victory against Ava Esposito to put UT up 2-1. Aulia dropped her contest to No. 74 Angella Okutoyi, 6-1, 6-1. Yli-Piipari could not fend off Alice Battesti, dropping a 6-4, 6-1 affair. No. 86 Ava Hrastar clinched the match with a 6-4, 7-6(4) defeat against No. 69 Britez Risso.
