#10 [7] Lady Vols Overcome #31 [10] Ole Miss, 4-1, Advance to SEC Quarterfinals

Auburn, Ala. – The 10th-ranked Tennessee women's tennis team posted a 4-1 victory against No. 31 Ole Miss in the Second Round of the SEC tournament on Thursday afternoon at Yarborough Tennis Center.
The Lady Vols will advance to the quarterfinals for the fifth straight year, the seventh time in the Alison Ojeda era.
Seven-seeded Lady Vols (17-6, 10-5 SEC) capitalized in doubles, securing the 1-0 advantage against No. 10-seed Ole Miss (15-12, 7-9). Catherine Aulia and Conley Raidt notched the first doubles win with a 6-4 victory over Emily Welker and Alice Souli. Maeve Thornton and Vanesa Suarez dropped their doubles match, falling to Andrea Nova and Brooklyn Olson, 6-4. Elza Tomase and Saray Yli-Piipari clinched the doubles point with a hard-fought 7-6(4) result against the No. 23 pair of Ludmila Kareisova and Anaelle Leclercq-Ficher.
In singles, No. 42 Aulia tallied a 6-3, 6-3 triumph against Ludmila Kareisova, to put UT up, 2-0. Yli-Piipari produced a 6-3, 6-1 victory versus Andrea Nova to give the Big Orange a 3-0 advantage. Maeve Thornton dropped a 6-4, 6-3 affair to Rachel Kryzyak, making the score 3-1.
Vanesa Suarez clinched the match with a 4-6, 1-6, 6-2 win against Alice Soulie.
UP NEXT: The Lady Vols will face No. 2-seed Georgia in the quarterfinals at 1 p.m. ET on Friday.
