#6 Lady Vols Fall, 4-0, To #1 Bulldogs In Athens

ATHENS, Ga. – The sixth-ranked Tennessee women's tennis team dropped its road match to top-ranked Georgia 4-0 on Sunday afternoon at the Lindsay Hopkins Indoor Tennis Facility.
Tennessee (9-3, 3-2 SEC) dropped the doubles point against Georgia (12-1, 5-0 SEC) and fell behind, 1-0. Elza Tomase and Maeve Thornton could not fight off the No. 13-ranked pair of Dasha Vidmanova and Mell Reasco, in a 3-6 setback. Conley Raidt and Saray Yli-Piipari dropped a 2-6 decision to Aysegul Mert and Hayden Mulbery. The No. 52-ranked pair of Catherine Aulia and Leyla Britez Risso were down, 5-3, against the No. 70-ranked duo of Anastasiia Lopata and Guillermina Grant when play halted.
In singles, Vanesa Suarez could not fend off No. 82 Guillermina Grant, falling, 6-3, 6-0, to give the Bulldogs a two point advantage. Georgia collected its third point from an automatic default on court one. Georgia clinched the match when Thornton dropped a 2-6, 6-7(4) result versus No. 41 Aysegul Mert.
