
Aulia Secures 50th Career Doubles Triumph As #8 Lady Vols Outshine #70 Razorbacks, 6-1

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Catherine Aulia secured her 50th career doubles win as the eighth-ranked Tennessee women's tennis team edged No. 70 Arkansas in a 6-1 triumph on Friday evening at Billingsley Tennis Complex. The Lady Vols have now tallied six straight victories over the Razorbacks, a streak that dates back to April 7, 2019, when UT tallied a 4-1 win in Fayetteville.
"Our team got better tonight," head coach Alison Ojeda said. "In order to beat Arkansas, we needed to play focused and disciplined tennis, which is exactly what we did. We are looking forward to competing again on Sunday."
Tennessee (10-3, 4-2 SEC) jumped out to an early advantage, collecting the doubles point, to claim a 1-0 lead over Arkansas (4-9, 1-5 SEC). The No. 52-ranked duo of Aulia and Leyla Britez Risso produced a 6-2 victory over the No. 82-ranked pairing of Anet Koskel and Grace O'Donnell. Elza Tomase and Maeve Thornton could not overcome Carolina Gomez and Olga Bienzobas, falling 3-6.
The doubles point came down to Conley Raidt and Saray Yli-Piipari, who posted a convincing 6-3 triumph against Jimena Gomez Alonso and Katarina Palechova.
In singles, No. 36 Aulia overcame Olga Bienzobas 6-4, 6-1 to put the Big Orange ahead by two. Francesca Mattioli tallied the third point of the match, defeating Anet Koskel, 6-1, 6-2. Vanesa Suarez dropped her match to Grace O'Donnell, 6-7(3), 5-7, making the score 3-1.
Yli-Piipari posted her first collegiate singles win, topping Jimena Gomez Alonso, 6-3, 7-6(1). No. 103 Britez Risso logged a 6-3, 4-6, 6-2 edge over Katarina Pavlechova to put the Lady Vols up 5-1.
No. 8 Tomase clinched the match with a 6-3, 5-7, 6-3 win against No. 55 Carolina Gomez, marking her fifth ranked triumph of the season.
Up Next: Tennessee will continue its road stretch with its first-ever match against No. 12 Oklahoma. The Lady Vols and Sonners will square off at 2 p.m. ET on Sunday.
