BRYAN, COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Lady Vol junior Layla Anderson will enter the final day of the SEC Indoor Championships as the top seed in the women's 60-meter dash and 60-meter hurdles after throwing down a pair of lifetime-best performances in those respective events during Friday's preliminary rounds at the R.A. Fasken Indoor Track & Field Facility. Her marks highlighted a total of nine qualifying times for Tennessee on the track, positioning the Big Orange for several scoring opportunities on Day 3 of the conference meet.
Anderson opened up the meet in the 60-meter dash, stopping the clock at 7.17 seconds for a new lifetime-best to win her preliminary heat. She edged defending champion Brianna Lyston of LSU by one thousandth of a second for the top mark in the prelims – ranking herself seventh in the NCAA this season and fourth in Lady Vol history.
Two hours later, Anderson took the center of the track once again in the 60-meter hurdles and came away with another personal record. Her time of 8.02 ranks sixth in the NCAA in 2025 and moved the Portsmouth, Virginia, native to No. 2 on the Lady Vol all-time list.
