Softball Preview: #2/4 Lady Vols Face ETSU in Midweek Showdown

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Fresh off its SEC series victory over No. 13 Alabama, the second-ranked Lady Vols softball team will square off against in-state foe ETSU Tuesday at Sherri Parker Lee Stadium. The first pitch is slated for 6 p.m. ET.

Tuesday's game is available to stream on SEC Network+ with Michael Wottreng (play-by-play) and Jill Jelnick (analyst) on the call.
Voice of the Lady Vols Brian Rice will return to the radio booth Tuesday as he hosts an audio broadcast of the outing. Links for both broadcast options can be found on the Tennessee softball schedule page and will be shared on @Vol_Softball social media accounts.
LAST TIME OUT
The Big Orange played their third SEC series last weekend, taking the three-game set against the Tide two games to one. The Lady Vols won games one and three 5-1 and 7-5, respectively.
Graduate pitcher Ashley Rogers won both games against Alabama, tossing 12.2 innings over the weekend, allowing four runs on six hits, walking just two batters and fanning 11.
OUR STATE
Since founding the program in 1996, Tennessee softball has run the Volunteer state – amassing a 143-4 record all-time against in-state opponents. This season, UT has four wins against opponents from Tennessee, defeating Belmont twice and Tennessee Tech and Austin Peay once.
SCORING IN BUNCHES
The Lady Vols offense has been firing on all cylinders this season, ranking No. 1 in the SEC and No. 2 in the nation in runs scored with an average of 7.86.
ROCKING IN SPL
The Lady Vols hosted three sellout crowds this past weekend with total attendance for all three games at 6,918. The attendance mark is the second-highest three-game tally in Sherri Parker Lee Stadium history – behind the 2017 NCAA Super Regional matchup between Tennessee and Texas A&M which hit 7,176 over three games.
SCOUTING ESTU
The Bucs enter the matchup with a 7-21 overall record, dropping the last three over the weekend at UNCG. ETSU will face their second SEC opponent of the campaign after taking on South Carolina earlier this season. Head coach Cheryl Milligan is in her first year at the helm.
