Cheer, Dance, Mascot Teams Lead The Nation In Semi-Finals

ORLANDO, FL. - Tennessee Spirit is primed to make history at the College Cheerleading and Dance Team National Championship this week.

All three teams concluded the first day of competition at the ESPN Wide World of Sports complex in Orlando, Florida, atop the semi-final leaderboard on Tuesday.

The dance team is in first place in the Division 1A Game Day category, ahead of Kentucky and Memphis. The cheer team is in first place in Division 1A Game Day, topping Ole Miss and South Florida.

Smokey is first in Division 1A Mascots, taking the top spot from Auburn, who entered the entry round in first place. Liberty University rounds out the top-three.

No university in the history of the competition has ever won a national title from all three of its teams in the same year. The final rounds of competition take place Wednesday, with results being announced Wednesday night.

In addition to leading in these three divisions, the dance team also enters the final round in third place in Division 1A Jazz and stands in third place in Division 1A Pom. The cheer team is also third in the Division 1A Coed Cheer Routine.
