January 10, 2021 | Women's Tennis
DURHAM, N.C. – Day one of the 2021 spring campaign for the Tennessee women's tennis team saw sophomore Carly Briggs pick up her 20th-career singles win and extend her season-long winning streak.
UT got off to a slow start, dropping three doubles matches to open the day and closed out with a pair of singles wins.
Briggs, a Calhoun, Georgia native, earned the Lady Vols' first win of 2021 with a straight-set (6-4, 6-2) triumph over NC State's Amelia Rajecki. It marks her sixth-straight solo victory dating back to Oct. 17. Briggs improves to 8-2 on the season and 20-5 in her career.
Sophomore Callie Creath picked up her first three-set victory of the year. The Austin, Texas product defeated Duke's Hannah Zhao 6-2, 4-6, 6-2 for her second solo win of the year.
