Tennessee Spirit to Hold Virtual College Prep Clinic
November 17, 2020 | Cheer, Dance & Mascots
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee Spirit Program is holding a virtual college prep clinic on Sunday, Nov. 22, at 1 p.m. ET for aspiring cheerleaders, dancers and mascots.
Â
The virtual event is open to all high school students, as well as current college students.
Â
A registration payment of $45 can be made at TennesseeSpiritCamps.com. Attendees of the virtual event also have the option to add a 1-on-1 Zoom call with the coaching staff to their experience, during which they will receive personalized feedback, for an additional $50.
Â
With the cheer and dance teams each coming off 2020 national championships, in Div. 1A Game Day and Div. 1A Pom, respectively, the Tennessee coaches are excited for the future on Rocky Top.
Â
Head dance coach Kelley Tafazzoli has led the Tennessee dance team to six national titles in 15 years. She is ready to see what the future holds, starting on Sunday.
Â
"We are very excited about the virtual clinic and the opportunity to share about our unified program," Tafazzoli said. "Going virtual changes the platform in which the information is delivered to prospective spirit members, but it doesn't change the message or material provided. We are thankful for the technology that allows us to still come together and do what we all love."
Â
Chelsea Bowlin, Tennessee's head cheer coach, expects the virtual clinic to be different than previous in-person clinics, while remaining exciting and beneficial for all.
Â
"We are very excited about our virtual clinic this weekend, and we expect it to be just as great as our in-person fall clinic," Bowlin said. "With our virtual clinic, the participants will still gain the same knowledge they would from an in-person clinic, as far as required skills for the collegiate level, hearing expectations from our current student-athletes and getting a taste of the tryout procedure used to select the next team."
Â
The virtual event will be comprised of a variety of material. For cheer, fight song motions, band chants and cheers, as well as sideline skills will be displayed.
Â
The dances that will be implemented include pom combo, jazz combo, skills and gameday material.
