KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – No. 22 Tennessee will look to rebound from a tough weekend series at Auburn with a midweek contest against in-state foe ETSU on Tuesday night in Johnson City.
The Volunteers were swept on the road at No. 15 Auburn last weekend, marking the first time they have lost multiple games in a row this season. UT will face a red-hot ETSU team on Tuesday that has won five straight and eight of its last 10 games. Â

Need to Know
- Tennessee has been dominant in midweek games under head coach Tony Vitello. The Vols are 6-0 this season and 16-4 overall in midweek contests under Vitello. UT has outscored its five midweek opponents by a 53-10 margin this season.
- Tuesday's matchup will be the first of two against ETSU this season as the Bucs will make a return trip to Knoxville next Tuesday, March 26. UT is 1-0 against in-state opponents this season and is 9-6 against them under Vitello.
- The Big Orange have been one of the better power-hitting teams in the SEC and the country this season. Their 21 home runs rank fifth in the SEC and 23rd nationally.
- Sophomore newcomer Alerick Soularie has been a huge addition to Tennessee's lineup. Soularie leads the team with a .377 batting average and seven home runs. His seven homers are tied for second in the SEC and his .792 slugging percentage leads the conference.
- Junior speedster Jay Charleston stole three more bases last weekend to add to his SEC-leading total. His 17 stolen bases this season rank sixth in the country. He is on pace to shatter his single-season career high of 21 that he set last season.
- The Vols' pitching staff has been the strength of this year's team, ranking fourth in the nation in ERA (2.30), second in WHIP (0.97), fifth in strikeout-to-walk ratio (3.82), eighth in walks/nine innings (2.74) and 17th in strikeouts/nine innings (10.5). UT's bullpen has posted a 1.98 ERA and eight saves this season.

- ETSU is off to a great start this season under second-year head coach Joe Pennucci. The Bucs are 14-4 after a sweep over NJIT last weekend and are a perfect 12-0 at home.
- The Bucs were picked to finish fourth in the SoCon Preseason Coaches' Poll after a fifth-place finish last season.
- ETSU has four players with 15 or more RBI this season and enter this week batting .297 as a team. Cullen Smith leads the team with a .400 batting average and four home runs while Ethan Cady also has four long balls and leads the team with 19 RBI.
- The Bucs have also been solid on the mound and defensively, leading the SoCon with a 3.63 ERA, a 1.22 WHIP and a .979 fielding percentage. ETSU's weekend rotation has a perfect 10-0 record so far this season.
