KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Following an undefeated nine-game homestand to open the season. the Vols hit the road for the first time this season as they travel south to Pensacola, Florida for the Cox Diamond Invitational this weekend.
Tennessee will open the round-robin tournament with Louisiana Monroe on Friday at 3 p.m. ET before taking on North Florida on Saturday at 4 p.m. ET and Western Kentucky on Sunday at noon ET.

- Tennessee is coming off back-to-back midweek wins over Liberty and Middle Tennessee. The Vols posted their sixth shutout of the season in Wednesday's victory over the Blue Raiders, marking the most shutouts the program has had in a season since 2005 (six). Â Â
- At 9-0, UT is off to its best start since 2014 when the Vols began the season 12-0.
- Junior right hander Zach Linginfelter was named SEC Pitcher of the Week on Monday after a dominant performance in last Saturday's win over the Hoosiers. The Sevierville native had 13 strikeouts and allowed just two hits in six shutout innings to improve to 2-0 on the year.
- Tennessee leads the nation with a 0.44 ERA and a 0.60 WHIP entering this weekend's tournament.
- True freshman pitcher Camden Sewell gave up just one hit and struck out five in six shutout innings on Wednesday in his first-career start to earn this first collegiate victory.
- The Vols' bullpen has been nearly untouchable, allowing just one run and six hits while striking out 49 batters in 45.2 innings of work.
- Shortstop Ricky Martinez has been on fire offensively for Tennessee over the past week. During that span (six games), the junior college transfer has scored six runs and posted 10 Â hits, including four doubles.
- Tennessee's offense has been well-balanced with seven players batting .321 or better and that doesn't include Andre Lipcius or Jay Charleston, who finished with the top two batting averages on the team last year.

- The Hilltoppers are led by head coach John Pawlowski, who is in his fourth season with the program. Pawlowski previously served as head coach at College of Charleston (2000-08) and Auburn (2009-13), appearing in 11 NCAA Regionals between those stops.
- WKU is coming off a midweek win over Murray State on Wednesday and has also swept Northern Kentucky and taken two of three from Eastern Illinois so far this season.
- The Hilltoppers enter the weekend with six players batting .304 or better, led by junior catcher Matt Phipps, who is batting .346 and also leads the team with eight runs and nine RBI. Jackson Swiney and Jack Wilson are tied for the team lead with a .360 batting average.
- Redshirt senior Reece Calvert has been the Hilltoppers' Sunday starter this season. The right hander is 0-1 with a 2.70 ERA in two starts.
