Lady Vols Fall in Regular-Season Finale to Arkansas, 4-2

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- The 31st-ranked Tennessee women's tennis team fell to 49th-ranked Arkansas, 4-2, Saturday afternoon in Barksdale Stadium.

The Lady Vols (17-10, 3-10 SEC) fell to an early disadvantage in doubles play on Court 3 but came roaring back to secure the doubles point with wins on Courts 1 and 2 within moments of each other. The 58th-ranked duo of Kaitlin Staines and Ariadna Riley evened things up with a win against the 37th-ranked pairing of Ana Oparenovic and Tatum Rice on court 1, 6-3. Gabby Schuck and Sadie Hammond followed that up quickly with a 6-4 victory over Giulia Pairone and Mia Jurasic on court 2.

 Tennessee extended its lead to 2-0 after Johanna Silva took her match versus Agne Cepelyte on Court 6, 6-4, 6-1. The Lady Vols could not maintain their momentum though as Arkansas fought back, taking straight-set matches on Courts 1, 2, and 3 and a hard-fought match on Court 4.

Tennessee is set to host the 2018 SEC Women's Tennis Tournament in Knoxville, beginning on Wednesday, April 18. Admission and parking to all matches are free for all fans.
