Tennessee Tidbits
- #14/12 Tennessee came back from an early 21-3 halftime deficit to defeat the #19/16-ranked Florida Gators in a 38-28 final at Neyland Stadium.
- The Vols extended their winning streak to 10 games. It's the longest UT win streak since the Vols won 14 in row, spanning a 13-0, 1998 season to a victorious first game in 1999.
- With its 38-28 victory over Florida, Tennessee snapped an 11-game win streak by the Gators dating to 2005.
- UT is 4-0 to begin its season for the first time since 2003, and only the seventh time since 1970.
- Tennessee has won three of its last four games against ranked opponents.
- The Volunteers won their SEC opener for the first time since 2004, when UT captured a 30-28 victory over the Florida Gators in Knoxville, Tenn.
- Tennessee improved its all-time record to 824-371-53, which stood as ninth place among FBS programs entering Saturday's game.
- The Vols are now 457-123-17 in their 95th season at Neyland Stadium.
- With the win, Tennessee is now 35-45-3 all-time in Southeastern Conference openers.
- Butch Jones moved to 25-17 in his fourth year at Tennessee and is 75-44 in his 10th season overall.
- The Volunteers are now 8-5 all-time in games played on Sept. 24.
- For the third consecutive year, Volunteer fans successfully `Checkered Neyland.' Tennessee is now 1-2 during #CheckerNeyland games on Rocky Top.

Vol Captains/Coin Toss
- Head coach Butch Jones announced Tennessee's full-season captains at halftime of the 2016 DISH Orange & White Game. The appointed leaders are senior quarterback Joshua Dobbs, redshirt junior tailback Alvin Kamara, senior defensive back Cameron Sutton and senior linebacker Jalen Reeves-Maybin.
- The Vols have not had full-season designees since 2011, with captains named on a game-by-game basis from 2012-15.
- Florida won the coin toss and elected to receive in the first half.
- Tennessee is now 1-4 in coin tosses this season, include 1-3 pregame and 0-1 in overtime.
Series Notes
- Tennessee moves to 20-26 all-time in the series vs. the Florida Gators, dating back to 1916.
- With the win, Tennessee snapped a streak of 11-straight losses to Florida dating back to 2005. The Vols last defeated the Gators in a 30-28 victory at Neyland Stadium in 2004.
- UT moves to a 12-12 mark against Florida in games played on Rocky Top.
- The Vols improved to 8-15 in games when both Tennessee and Florida are ranked.
Tennessee Lineup News
- UT shuffled its offensive lineup vs. Florida, starting two tight ends against the Gators (Jason Croom and Ethan Wolf). The last time Tennessee started two tight ends in a game was on Nov. 15, 2014 vs. Kentucky, when UT started Daniel Helm and Alex Ellis en route to a 50-16 win over the Wildcats at Neyland Stadium.
- Sophomore Chance Hall made his first start of the season at offensive tackle on the right side of the line vs. UF.
- After missing UT's matchup against Ohio due to injuries, wide receiver Josh Smith and defensive end LaTroy Lewis returned to action against Florida.
Offensive Highlights
- Tennessee now has scored in 276 straight games, which stood as the fourth-longest active streak in the NCAA entering the game vs. Florida.
- Tennessee finished just two yards short of 500 yards total offense vs. Florida, including 319 total passing yards and four touchdowns delivered by senior quarterback Joshua Dobbs.
- In the first half, Tennessee began three of its first four possessions inside Florida's 45-yard line, including the recovery of a punt return fumble at the Gator's one-yard line.
- UT furthered its streak to 19 consecutive games with a rushing TD, dating back to 2014.
- Dobbs, who finished 16 of 32 for 319 yards with four TD passes and two interceptions, has thrown for at least one TD in each game this season. His 319 yards passing were his most since Oct. 10, 2015 vs. Georgia (301), while his four TD passes marked the most by a Tennessee quarterback since Tyler Bray accomplished the feat vs. Kentucky on Nov. 24, 2012.
- Joshua Dobbs completed a 21-yard pass to wide receiver Jauan Jennings in the second quarter, marking Jennings's longest reception of the season.
- During the same UT possession, Jennings attempted a pass to running back Alvin Kamara, ruled incomplete. The pass attempt marked the first for Jennings since last season against Florida (Sept. 26, 2015).
- Jalen Hurd grabbed a 23-yard touchdown pass from Dobbs in the third quarter, narrowing UT's then-deficit to 21-10 vs. Florida. The pass was the fifth TD catch of Hurd's career and his first this season. It was Hurd's first TD reception since catching a 37-yard TD pass at Kentucky on Oct. 31, 2015.
- In the third quarter, Jennings grabbed a 67-yard touchdown pass from Dobbs to put the Vols ahead, 24-21, in the third quarter. The catch marked the second touchdown reception of Jennings' career and tied for the longest touchdown reception by Tennessee this season.
- Jennings finished the day with three catches for a career-best 111 yards.
- Ethan Wolf grabbed a 20-yard touchdown pass in the third quarter, his first since he had two TD catches vs. Bowling Green in Tennessee's 2015 season opener.
- Josh Malone caught a touchdown pass for the fourth straight game, pulling down a 42-yarder from Joshua Dobbs in the fourth quarter. His four consecutive games with a touchdown catch are the most to start a season since 2011, when Da'Rick Rogers also had four.
- With 10 minutes remaining in the fourth quarter, Dobbs rushed for a five-yard touchdown to give the Vols a 37-21 advantage. By doing so, he recorded his second, five-touchdown game of the season with four passing and one rushing. His last five touchdown game came on Sept. 10 vs. Virginia Tech (three passing, two rushing).
Defensively Speaking
- After allowing 87 yards rushing and 300 total yards offense in the first half vs. Florida, UT's defense held the Gators to just 19 yards rushing in the second half.
- Derek Barnett recorded his 21st and 22nd career sacks against Florida's Austin Appleby in the third quarter, moving past Parys Haralson (21, 2002-05) for fifth place in school history. The sacks resulted in two tackles for loss. He later recorded a third TFL, marking his 39th career TFL to surpass Todd Kelly (36.5, 1989-92) for the sixth-most in school history.
- Dillon Bates recovered a fumbled punt return attempt by Florida's Antonio Callaway at the Gators' one-yard line in the first quarter.
- In the third quarter, Todd Kelly Jr. intercepted a pass from Florida's QB Austin Appleby at the Gators' 42-yard line, resulting in a UT touchdown following the turnover. The interception was the seventh of Kelly's career and his first of the season, tying senior defensive back Cameron Sutton for the most career interceptions on the Vols' active roster.
- Tennessee's fans have now generated 12 game disruptions inside Neyland Stadium, including five `Neyland Effect' disruptions against Florida (one delay of game, two timeouts and two false starts).
Special Teams
- Junior kicker Aaron Medley now has scored 249 points and stands eighth at Tennessee for points scored in a career.
- Medley is 45-of-63 on career field goal attempts, including 4-6 this season after making a 28-yarder in the second quarter.
- Medley was 5-of-5 on PATs. He is now 114-of-115 for his career.
- Trevor Daniel averaged 43.2 yards on five punts, including five inside the 20 and two of 50 or more yards. He now has 36 inside the 20 in his career and 28 kicks of 50 or more yards.
Upon Further Review
- A one-yard touchdown rush by Florida's Jordan Scarlett was reviewed following an illegal substitution flag on the Tennessee defense. The ruling on the field was upheld to give UF a 20-0 lead in the second quarter.
