Neal Places 6th at African Senior Championships

DURBAN, South Africa -- Tennessee's Maya Neal took sixth place for Liberia in the women's heptathlon at this week's CAA 20th African Senior Championships.
The Confederation of African Athletics (CAA) African Senior Championships run from June 22-26 in Durban, South Africa.
Neal placed sixth in the heptathlon with a Liberian national-record 5,024 points. She was the youngest competitor and the only collegiate freshman.
On Friday, Neal placed fifth in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 14.53 (+1.4), took sixth in the high jump with a Liberian-record 1.56 meters, took seventh in the shot put with a throw of 11.22 meters and ran 26.22 in the 200 meters for a sixth-place finish.
On Saturday, Neal took seventh in the long jump with a leap of 5.32 meters (+0.3), fifth in the javelin with a throw of 38.75 meters and fifth in the 800 meters, clocking 2:26.31.
Neal's 14.53 in the 100-meter hurdles, 11.22 meters in the shot put and 38.75 meters in the javelin were all personal bests.
