UT Track & Field Teams Post GPAs Over 3.00

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- The Tennessee men's and women's track and field teams enjoyed an outstanding Spring 2016 semester in the classroom as two of UT's 11 teams with team GPAs of 3.00 or higher.
All Tennessee student-athletes combined for a 3.06 GPA this spring, marking the highest spring term GPA in school history and UT's seventh-straight semester with a 3.00 GPA or higher.
The Tennessee men's track and field team set a new program record with a team GPA of 3.07. The UT men's track and field squad also led all male Tennessee teams with 13 student-athletes named to the Dean's List and ranked second only to football (33) among men's teams with 22 student-athletes posting GPAs of 3.00 or higher this spring.
The Tennessee women's track and field team posted a 3.23 team GPA, its highest since spring mark since 2014. The UT women had 11 student-athletes on the Dean's List (third among UT women's teams) and 21 student-athletes with Spring 2016 GPAs of 3.00 or higher. The Tennessee women's track and field squad also posted a perfect APR score of 1000 and Lindsey Bowman, Caroline Duer and Cassie Wertman each earned Chancellor's Citations for Extraordinary Academic Achievement.
The UT track and field program enjoyed a dominant spring in competition as well. At the 2016 NCAA Indoor Championships, the Tennessee men placed third nationally and the women took seventh. Next week, the Vols will have 17 entries at the 2016 NCAA Outdoor Championships in Eugene, Ore.
