Tennessee Rowing Advances to Grand Final in Crew Classic

SAN DIEGO, Calif. -- Tennessee Rowing’s top boat qualified for the Grand Finals on the first day of competition as part of the San Diego Crew Classic at Mission Bay on Saturday.
Sophomore Chandler Frumin was in the bow as Tennessee posted a time of 6:57.953 to outrace the top squads from Loyola Marymount, Fordham, University of Portland and Purdue. The Vols finished almost two seconds ahead of LMU as the first four boats all finished within five seconds of each other.
Junior Jesselyn Voysey was at the bow as Tennessee's V4+ placed third in Heat C of the Women's Collegiate Varsity 4+ race. UT finished in 7:46.965 behind USC (7:37.171) and Washington State (7:38.463).
Tennessee also took third in Heat C of the Women's Collegiate 2V with a time of 7:03.183. Freshman Katie Porter was at the bow seat as the team finished less than five seconds behind USC and Washington State.
Tennessee qualified for finals in all three races on Sunday. The Varsity 8+ qualified for the Grand Final with a first place finish in their heat. They will compete at 9:44 a.m. PT/12:44 p.m. ET. The 2V8+ will compete in the Petite Final at 8:24 a.m. PT/11:24 a.m. ET. The V4+ squad will be back in action tomorrow at 8:40 a.m. PT/11:40 a.m. ET at Mission Bay in San Diego, California.
