Penn Relays To Honor 2009 UT Women's 4x1500
April 14, 2016 | Track & Field
PHILADELPHIA -- The Penn Relays Carnival will honor the 2009 Tennessee women's 4x1500 relay team as part of its 23rd Wall of Fame induction class.
UT's 2009 women's 4x1500 relay consisted of VFLs Chanelle Price, Phoebe Wright, Rolanda Bell and Sarah Bowman. The squad broke the existing Penn Relays, national collegiate, American and world records with a time of 17:08.34. That mark still stands as a Penn Relays and American collegiate record.
"This relay team of women represents the tough determination it takes to win at Penn Relays," Tennessee director of track and field Beth Alford-Sullivan said. "Tennessee track and field has a rich tradition of competing at Penn Relays and we are all very honored by this selection to the Penn Relays Wall of Fame."
The induction ceremony will take place during the week of Penn Relays, which is April 28-30 at historic Franklin Field.
The sole restriction in the nomination process is that only retired athletes (or those now competing as masters) may be nominated, and inductees are honored solely for their accomplishments at the Penn Relays. Achievements in any other meets are not considered. Any relay team may be nominated and nominations of relay teams and individuals will be accepted by the Penn Relays office at any time and from any interested party.
