Sprinters Shine In Outdoor Debuts On Friday

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - Several of Tennessee's track and field stars shined on Friday at both the Pepsi Florida Relays and the Stanford Invitational.
Starting with Thursday's late men's 5,000 meters with Jack Little running a PR 14:33.26 to take ninth place, Tennessee has posted 14 personal bests so far to start the weekend.

***The Friday results for Mustaqeem Williams' long jump and Zach Long's and Tyler Woodrome's 1,500 meters at the Pepsi Florida Relays and Matthew Zajac's discus throw and Chelsea Blaase's 10,000 meters at the Stanford Invitational were not yet available at the time this recap was posted.
PEPSI FLORIDA RELAYS
MEN
Christian Coleman cracked UT's top 10 in the outdoor 100 meters with a time of 10.16 to take fifth place. That time ranks 10th in program history and is the fastest by a Vol since Evander Wells ran 10.08 and Rubin Williams ran 10.12 in 2008.
WOMEN
Kali Davis-White took fifth in the outdoor 100 meters with a time of 11.33 (+2.7). That time is tied for seventh-best in Tennessee history, matching Stephanie Fields' 1995 mark of 11.33 (+1.8). Davis-White's time on Friday was the fastest by a Vol since Jeneba Tarmoh's 11.21 (+1.3) in 2008.
Erin Champion matched her outdoor career best in the pole vault, clearing 4.05 meters (13-3.50) to take eighth place. She last cleared that height on May 30, 2014, at the NCAA East Regional.
Felecia Majors ran the seventh-best 200 meters in UT history, taking second place in the invitational race with a PR of 23.01 (+0.6). That is the fastest Tennessee time since Felicia Brown ran 22.76 (+2.0) on May 30, 2015, at the NCAA East Regional.
STANFORD INVITATIONAL
WOMEN
Javelin thrower Maria Jimenez continued her impressive 2016 season with a personal best for the second-straight meet. Jimenez threw 49.65 meters (162-11.00), improving her fifth-place standing in Tennessee history by 1.5 feet. She is getting closer and closer to becoming the first UT woman since 1988 to throw the javelin over 50 meters.
