Vols Top Georgia State, 5-2

FORT MYERS, Fla. -- The Tennessee women's tennis team picked up its first ranked win of the season Saturday, beating No. 47 Georgia State, 5-2, at the FGCU Tennis Complex.
Competing outdoors for the first time this spring, the Vols (5-4) took the doubles point over the Panthers (5-2), who have dropped two of their last three matches. After going up 1-0, UT won four matches in singles to take the match.
In doubles, junior Brittany Lindl and freshman Kim Kermet defeated the duo of Kristin Rehse and Niri Rasolomalala, 6-1, on Court 2. Senior Tiffany Tavares and freshman Mary Caroline Meredith outlasted Chiari Volejnicek and Daniela Ramirez, 7-5, on Court 3 to help the Volunteers clinch the doubles point.
The momentum continued in singles, as the Vols fought hard to win four matches. On Court 2, junior Eve Repic breezed past Rehse, 6-0, 6-2. Kermet downed Lara Vovk 6-1, 6-3, in the No. 3 spot.
Lindl continues her impressive spring by beating Volejnicek, 6-1, 6-3, improving to 7-2 in dual matches. Freshman Gabby Schuck picked up her first win in a dual match, defeating Ramirez 6-3, 0-6, 1-0 (8), on Court 6.
Junior Ashlee Boles downed Tarani Kamoe in an extra match, 6-2, 7-5.
The Volunteers will be back in action Sunday to face Florida Gulf Coast at FGCU Tennis Complex at 10 a.m. ET.
