THE SERIES: Vanderbilt won the 189th all-time meeting between the in-state foes and now trails the all-time series, 116-73. It is the second-longest series in Tennessee basketball history (trailing the 218 all-time meetings between the Vols and Kentucky).
Vanderbilt is now 19-70 all-time in Knoxville and has won back-to-back games at Thompson-Boling Arena for the first time since the 1992-93 and 1993-94 seasons.
3-POINTERS THE DIFFERENCE: Vanderbilt connected on 13-of-33 from 3-point range while the Vols were just 4-of-20. Tennessee missed its first 10 shots from beyond the arc until Kevin Punter Jr. connected on one with 8:04 left in the game.
Tennessee has now made a 3-pointer for 150 consecutive games dating to Nov. 21, 2011 vs. Duke.
PUNTER IN DOUBLE-FIGURES AGAIN: Kevin Punter Jr. tallied a game-best 26 points. It was his 17th game this season in double-figures and 35th in his 50 career games with the Vols.
It was Punter's 13th game this season with 20-plus points after after never reaching that plateau in his first season as a Vol in 2014-15.
MOORE BACK IN ACTION: After missing the game at Mississippi State, Armani Moore returned to action and tallied 10 points. It was his 11th game with 10-plus points and 27th time in his career with double-figures.
HUBBS FILLS IT UP: Robert Hubbs III scored in double-figures for the 13th time this season and fifth time in six games with 10 points. It was his 21st career game with 10-plus points.
TRAILING AT HALF: For the first time in SEC play (six games), the Vols trailed at halftime, as they were behind, 44-23, at intermission.
UP NEXT: The Vols will be back in action on Saturday as No. 24 South Carolina (17-1) comes to Knoxville. That game will tip at 12 Noon and air on the SEC Network and can be heard on the Vol Network.
