Lady Vols Beat MTSU 4-3

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- The Lady Vols continued their winning streak to start this season as they defeated Middle Tennessee State 4-3.
The team remained perfect in doubles for the weekend as sophomore Victoria Olivarez and junior Tiffany Tavares quickly beat Middle Tennessee's Nayara Moraes and Giulia Squadrin 6-1 to get things going for the Lady Vols. Seniors Joanna Henderson and Caitlyn Williams picked up their first doubles win of the weekend as they clinched the doubles point by beating Jesse Grace and Brittany Huxley 6-1.
In singles, Williams competed for the first time this year. She rested her shoulder in the fall, but that did not stop her from blowing out Grace 6-0, 6-1. Olivarez also had a big day in singles as she improved to 3-0 for the weekend by defeating Giulia Squadrin 6-3, 6-1.
Sophomore Laurence Guevremont rebounded from a tough loss yesterday to clinch the match for the Lady Vols after defeating Huxley 6-4, 6-2.
Henderson, Tavares and sophomore Eve Repic all dropped tough matches to their opponents. Henderson was beat by No. 67 ranked Tiffany William 6-4, 7-5, which ended her career-high six game win streak. Repic lost her four game win streak after losing to Darya Shulzhanok 6-4, 6-4.
The Lady Vols will face Mercer at 3 p.m. to finish off their second doubleheader of the weekend.
