The loss was Tennessee's first at Thompson Boling Arena thus season. The Vols are now 7-1.
The loss also snapped the Vols' season-best 5-game winning streak.
Tennessee stays at home for the next game, hosting No. 23 Arkansas on Jan. 13 at 7:02 p.m. It will be televised on ESPNU.

SCORELESS STRETCH

Between a basket by Derek Reese at 14:44 and a layup by Armani Moore with 37 seconds left in the game, the Vols went 14:07 without scoring a basket.
With free throws at 13:39, Tennessee went 13:02 without scoring points.
During the scoreless streak, Alabama went on an 18-0 run.
Tennessee missed 15 consecutive shots.
The 14 points in the second half is the fewest for the Vols in a half this season.
The 38 total points scored for the Vols is the fewest in a game since a 46-38 loss to Virginia on Dec. 5, 2012.

CLOSING IN ON 1,000 POINTS

Josh Richardson scored 17 points Saturday to close in on the 1,000-point milestone. After the game, he had 965 points, 35 points away.
Forty-six Vols in history have scored at least 1,000 career points. Richardson has started 83 of Tennessee's last 84 games.
Richardson did not have any assists in a game for the first time this season He had entered the game having posted at least five assists per game the last four games.

AT THE HALF

Josh Richardson led the Vols with nine points. Armani Moore had 6 and Robert Hubbs had five.
Moore, who scored no points in Wednesday's win against Mississippi State, led the Vols at half with four rebounds.
Jimmie Taylor and Ricky Tarrant both had eight to lead Alabama.
