UT Announces Fall Rowing Schedule

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - The University of Tennessee women's rowing team and Head Coach Lisa Glenn announced its 2014 fall schedule on Tuesday. The Lady Vols will participate in four fall races, including one scrimmage, before taking on the top collegiate competition in a full spring schedule.
The Lady Volunteers open up their fall slate close to home in Chattanooga, Tenn., at the Chattanooga Head Race. The regatta will be held on the Tennessee River on October 11.
Tennessee looks to continue their past success at their 18th trip to the Chattanooga Head Race. The Orange and White have earned a total of 75 medals at the event, including five last season. At the 2013 race Tennessee raced seven shells in the women's collegiate pair and four shells in the women's collegiate 4+.
On October 25, Tennessee will race in nearby Oak Ridge on Melton Hill Lake at the Secret City Head Race. Last season, Tennessee's novice squad placed first bringing a gold medal back to Rocky Top.
The following weekend, the Big Orange will travel back to Chattanooga to race in the Head of the Hooch Regatta on November 1-2. The event is the largest head race in Southeast and rivals the Head of the Charles as one of the nations top regattas.
During the 2013 season, Tennessee's Championship 4+ won the the gold medal and for the weekend the Lady Vols brought home a total of three medals.
To close out the fall racing season, Tennessee will travel to Durham, NC to scrimmage both Duke University and Georgetown University on November 9.
