POSTGAME NOTES
For the Record
- The game was divided into offensive (White) and defensive (Orange) teams, with the White earning a steak dinner with its win, as decreed by head coach Butch Jones. The Orange squad will settle for hotdogs and baked beans.
- The White ended a two-game winning streak by the Orange
- With the victory, the White pulled ahead in the series with the Orange, 26-25. There have been three ties all-time.
Oh Captain, My Captain
- White team captains were Justin Worley and Marlin Lane.
- A.J. Johnson and Curt Maggitt were the Orange captains.
Drawing A Crowd
- On a beautiful April afternoon, Tennessee drew a crowd of 68,548, posting the second-largest attendance in UT spring game history.
- For the second year in a row, an estimated crowd of 25,000 came out early on Saturday for pregame fan day activities. Some were in line before 5 a.m.
Honorary Coaches
- Lady Vol basketball coach Holly Warlick served as an honorary coach for the offense, while UT swimming coach Matt Kredich was an honorary coach for the defense.

- Harvey Robinson Off. Player Award: Kyler Kerbyson.
- Andy Spiva Def. Player Award: Corey Vereen.

- Duke head coach and former Vol assistant David Cutcliffe received a warm welcome back to Rocky Top, as he accepted the Neyland Award beforehand.
- CBS broadcaster Tim Brando also was on hand for an award, earning this year's Lindsey Nelson Broadcast Award.

Racking Up The Points
- Utilizing the unique scoring format, the offense (White) took a 92-71 lead into the locker room at the half and ended up prevailing, 129-100.
- The White (129), Orange (100) and total (229) scores were game records.
- The game consisted of a 15-minute first quarter and followed with a 12-minute second quarter and 10-minute, running-clock third and fourth periods.
OFFENSE
Signal Callers
- Three of Tennessee's four quarterbacks (Justin Worley, Nathan Peterman and Joshua Dobbs) capped their opening drives with points.
- Dobbs led his units to TDs on his first four possessions and had the ball again when the game ended. He finished six-of-nine for 199 yards and three TDs passing and added another on a 59-yard run.
- Dobbs was the fourth QB to take the field, tossing a 49-yard scoring strike to true freshman Josh Malone.
- Worley opened the game at quarterback and led his unit to a field goal (41 yards by redshirt sophomore George Bullock) on the first series.
- Worley led his squads to three scores in five attempts and finished the game 11-of-13 for 151 yards and a TD.
- Peterman got the nod on the second series and directed his unit to paydirt, capped by a four-yard run from true freshman Jalen Hurd.
- Peterman also led his charges to a TD on the second series.
- Riley Ferguson's first stab at the controls ended with a punt.
- Ferguson led the White to paydirt on his fifth possession, hitting junior Cody Blanc for a 19-yard touchdown strike.
Passing Game
- Two different receivers had 100-yard days, including true freshman Josh Malone (6-181, 3 TDs) and sophomore Marquez North (5-106, 1 TD).
- Nathan Peterman connected on a 49-yard touchdown pass to true freshman Josh Malone in his first series.
- Joshua Dobbs had a 27-yard pass to Malone on his first series and a 79-yard TD play on his fourth series.
- Dobbs also tossed a 16-yard TD strike to redshirt junior Justus Pickett, a transfer from Maryland, in the second period.
- Justin Worley unleashed a 50-yard dart to sophomore Marquez North in the second quarter, carding his first TD drive of the game.
- Riley Ferguson hit redshirt junior tight end Alex Ellis for a 22-yard gain in the third quarter.
- Junior Cody Blanc hauled in a 19-yard TD pass from Riley Ferguson.
- Fourteen different receivers caught balls, racking up 32 receptions for 514 yards and a 16.1 yards per catch average.
Running Game
- True freshman Jalen Hurd scored on a four-yard run on the game's second series. He also had a 27-yard reception on that drive.
- Hurd was Tennessee's leading rusher, tallying 66 yards on 11 carries.
- Joshua Dobbs scored on a 59-yard run in the opening stanza on his second turn at the helm of the offense.
- Justin Worley had a 49-yard run down to the one yard line in the opening drive of the second half. Senior Marlin Lane would punch it in one play later.
- Tennessee, with 11 different players touching the ball, finished with 52 carries for 248 yards on the ground for a 4.8 yards per play average.
DEFENSE
Making Stops
- Senior defensive back Riyahd Jones recorded eight solo tackles in the first half and finished the game with that total. He also added a pass break-up.
- Sophomore Jalen Reeves-Maybin finished with seven tackles and registered half a tackle for a loss.
- Redshirt sophomore linebacker Kenny Bynum had five solos in the opening half and wound up with six stops, including a TFL (-1).
- Freshman Colton Jumper also posted six tackles, including a half TFL.
- Justin King led a four-sack day for the defense, tallying 1.5 for -10.
- Sophomore Devaun Swafford (-6) and redshirt junior Curt Maggitt (-4) added sacks, and freshman Neiko Creamer had a half sack (-2).
Big Plays
- Sophomore defensive back Devaun Swafford sacked Riley Ferguson in the second quarter, forcing a fumble that was recovered by redshirt sophomore lineman Danny O'Brien.
- Malik Foreman intercepted a Riley Ferguson pass in the fourth quarter and had a two-yard return.
SPECIAL TEAMS
Kicking Game
- Redshirt sophomore George Bullock drilled a 41-yard field goal in the first quarter for the first traditional score of the game.
- Bullock also was five-for-five on PAT attempts.
- Redshirt senior Derrick Brodus nailed four-of-four PATs.
Punting Game
- Redshirt senior Matt Darr had five punts of 36, 53, 44, 50 and 50 yards for a 46.6 average, including three inside the 50.
Returns
- Devrin Young had two fair catches.
- Cameron Sutton had three fair catches.
