It didn't take long for Barnett to validate being the first Volunteer true freshman to ever start an opener at defensive end. He was physically ready to contribute from the moment he arrived in Knoxville in May, and his work ethic has been outstanding. The instinctive Barnett leads all freshmen with 20.5 stops for loss to go along with 69 tackles and 10 sacks.

Hurd ran for 777 yards and three touchdowns in 12 games as a true freshman. His yardage total is the most by a Vols' true freshman since Jamal Lewis had a freshman school-record 1,364 in 1997. Hurd had three 100-yard games, the most by a freshman since Lewis had a record seven in 1997. Hurd also had 33 catches for 217 yards and two receiving touchdowns.
Medley ranks second among all freshman kickers in the nation and the SEC in field goals made with 21 and field goals made per game (1.58). Ranks tied for 12th in the NCAA in field goals made and 13th in field goals made per game. His 19 field goals are tied for the fifth-most in a single-season in Tennessee history (with Jeff Hall in 1998 and Greg Burke in 1990). His 19 field goals made are the second-most by a true freshman in a season, behind Daniel Lincoln's 21 in 2007. Medley kicked in all 12 games, making 36-of-37 PATs and 19-of-25 on field goals with long of 46 for 93 points. He made 18-of-19 field goals from inside 39 yards.
Thomas played in 10 games, making five starts at right tackle in his true freshman season. He moved into the starting lineup at Oklahoma and started the next five games.
