SECOND HALF ROLL
- The Vols started the second half on an 14-0 run while Santa Clara went on a shooting drought.
- The Broncos went 10 minutes and 4 seconds (10:04) without scoring a point. Santa Clara was scoreless after made a free throw by Brandon Clark with 27 seconds in the first half until a layup by Jared Brownnridge with 10:23 in the second half.
- Santa Clara went 0-for-7 from the field during that time.
CLEANING UP IN THE PAINT
- The Vols outscored Santa Clara 32-14 in points in the paint.
- Second chance points helped. The Vols had 14 offensive rebounds. Santa Clara had only six.
- UT also took advantage of Bronco turnovers, turning 13 turnovers into 16 points.
CAREER DAY FOR Armani Moore
- Junior Armani Moore finished with a career-high 18 points to go along with five rebounds
- He shot 4-for-8 from the field and a team-leading 10-of-12 from the free throw line.
- It is the second consecutive game he has scored at least 10 points, having scored 11 against Texas Southern (11/20/14)
RICHARDSON LEADS WAY AGAIN
- Senior Josh Richardson led or tied for the team lead in scoring for the third time this season, finishing with 18 points
- He scored 12 of his 18 points in the second half.
HUSTLE McGHEE
- Freshman Jabari McGhee put up career numbers in his third career game as a Vol, finishing with a personal-best eight points and nine rebounds
- He has already had two games of at least five rebounds, getting six against VCU (11/14/14).
- He played 19 minutes, also a career best
- In nine minutes off the bench in the first half, he scored four points, had four rebounds and drew a charge.
TOBIAS IN TOWN
- Orlando Magic star forward Tobias Harris was a one-and-done phenom at Tennessee during the 2010-11 season before becoming the 19th overall pick in the 2011 NBA Draft.
- Though he was not on Rocky Top for long, there is no doubt he's a Vol for Life. Before leaving on his road trip with the Magic, he came to cheer on Tennessee against Santa Clara.
- Through Orlando's first 13 games this season, Harris --- now in his third season with the Magic --- is the team's leader in scoring (18.4 ppg) and steals (1.1 spg) while ranking second on the team in rebounding (8.5 ppg).
SOME HALFTIME NOTES
- Junior Armani Moore led the Vols with nine points at the half, benefitting by shooting 5-for-6 from the line shortly before halftime.
- Senior Josh Richardson had eight points.
- Santa Clara's 3-point shooting spelled a major difference. The Broncos went 5-of-7 from long range in the first half, making their first four. The Vols were 0-for-4 from 3-point range.
- While the Broncos were hitting distance shots, the Vols had the advantage in the paint, outscoring Santa Clara there 16-2.
