POSTGAME NOTES
TENNESSEE TIDBITS
- In its 118th season of football, UT's all-time record now stands at 809-367-53.
- UT stands at 0-3 in their three overall of meetings with Missouri since 2012.
- Saturday's UT-Mizzou game marked Senior Day for the Vols. Tennessee is now 27-3 on Senior Day since 1985. The game also marks the first time for UT to play an opponent other than Vanderbilt or Kentucky on Senior Day since Dec. 4, 1971 vs. Penn.
- UT is 313-125-21 all-time in November and 9-2-1 on November 22.
- With a won coin toss to Missouri, the Vols have now lost 15 of their last 17 flips in regulation play. The won coin toss snapped a streak of four consecutive pregame coin toss losses.
- UT is 1-1 when winning the coin flip and 4-5 when losing the toss in 2014.
- Tonight's attendance: 95,821. With an average attendance of 99,753 this season, Tennessee posted its highest average attendance at home since 2010 (99,781). Since 2012 (89,965), the average attendance at Neyland Stadium has increased by nearly 10,000.
TENNESSEE CAPTAINS
- #11 Joshua Dobbs, #54 Jordan Williams and #56 Curt Maggitt represented the Vols for the pregame coin toss.
VFL LEGEND OF THE GAME
- VFL Jamal Lewis (1997-99) was honored in a pregame ceremony before the Missouri-Tennessee game as the Vols' Legend of the Game.
- Lewis was a standout for the Vols, rushing for 2,677 yards and scoring 21 touchdowns. He set UT records for rushing yards by a freshman with 1,364 and had seven 100-yard rushing games.
- Lewis went on to a Pro Bowl career with the Ravens and was named the 2003 NFL MVP. He won Super Bowl XXXV with Baltimore and is in the Ravens' Hall of Fame.
SCHOOL RECORD STARTERS
- #44 Jakob Johnson made his first career start at linebacker against Mizzou, marking the 10th true freshman (11th including kicker #25 Aaron Medley) to start for Tennessee this year. The Vols have the second-most true freshman starts in the country (Tulane, 12).
- The Vols started Tennessee-record seven true freshman against Missouri: #1 Jalen Hurd (TB), #3 Josh Malone (WR), #6 Todd Kelly Jr. (S), #9 Derek Barnett (DE), #12 Emmanuel Moseley (CB), #44 Jakob Johnson (LB) and #73 Jashon Robertson (RG).
- Tennessee's four true freshmen starters on defense against the Tigers also established a new school record.
- Additionally, the Vols started true freshmen at the kicker position (#25 Aaron Medley), as well as the kickoff return position (#29 Evan Berry).
- Tennessee has played 23 true freshmen this season, the most for any FBS program in the nation.
OFFENSE
MAKING PLAYS
- #2 Pig Howard and #11 Joshua Dobbs connected for a 24-yard pass in the first quarter and a 20-yard pass in the fourth quarter. Howard had eight catches for 90 yards on the night, while #1 Jalen Hurd had six catches for 40 yards receiving.
- #11 Joshua Dobbs opened up the second quarter for the Vols with a 22-yard run. Dobbs finished the night 24-for-37 with 195 yards passing including one touchdown.
- Tennessee used nine different receivers against Missouri, including redshirt freshman #5 Ryan Jenkins for his first career catch in the fourth quarter.
HOW THEY SCORED
- #25 Aaron Medley made a 38-yard field goal attempt in the first quarter to put the Vols on the board.
- On a fake field goal attempt in the second half, holder #13 Patrick Ashford completed a 31-yard pass to tight end #48 Alex Ellis. The catch marks a first career pass for Ashford, as well as a first career touchdown for Ellis. Both players are walk-ons for Tennessee. The fake field goal attempt was the first for Tennessee since Nov. 23, 2013 against Vanderbilt.
- The last time UT accomplished a fake field goal for a touchdown was also against Missouri, when Tyler Drummer ran for five yards to put UT on top, 42-35, in overtime on Nov. 10, 2012.
- #25 Aaron Medley was 1-of-1 on PATs against Missouri. On the season, he is 33-of-34 in PATs.
- With less than four minutes left in the half, #25 Aaron Medley made a 39-yard field goal attempt to tie the game at 13-13. On the year, Medley is 18-of-24 in field goal attempts, including 17-of-18 inside the 39-yard line. Medley has hit at least one field goal in each of his 11 games this season.
- #11 Joshua Dobbs completed a four-yard touchdown pass to #18 Jason Croom in the fourth quarter, narrowing Missouri's lead to 29-19.
- Dobbs rushed for a successful two-point conversion following the touchdown pass to Croom. On the year, Tennessee is 2-for-2 in two-point conversion attempts (also, Worley pass to Helm at Georgia on Sept. 27). Dobbs' run was the first rushing PAT of the season for Tennessee.
DEFENSE
DEFENSIVELY SPEAKING
- As a defense, the Vols held the Tigers to 8-of-17 on third down conversions.
- Tennessee's defense had pass break-ups by five different players: #33 LaDarrell McNeil, #23 Cameron Sutton, #27 Justin Coleman, #54 Jordan Williams and #22 Malik Foreman. Sutton led the group against Missouri with two PBUs.
- #33 LaDarrell McNeil recorded 11 tackles, passing his previous career high for tackles in a single game with 10 (vs. Troy on Nov. 3, 2012, vs. Kentucky on Nov. 24, 2012 and vs. Western Kentucky on Sept. 7, 2013).
- #6 Todd Kelly Jr had six tackles, a career high for tackles in a single game for the true freshman.
- Senior #54 Jordan Williams sacked Missouri quarterback #7 Maty Mauk for a loss of six yards in the second quarter. Against the Tigers, Williams established a career high for tackles in a single game with six.
- After sitting out the first half due to a targeting call against Kentucky, #37 Brian Randolph returned to action and had three tackles in the third quarter. In total, Randolph had four tackles against Missouri.
- #95 Danny O'Brien sacked Missouri's Mauk in the third quarter, his first solo sack of the season.
- #56 Curt Maggitt sacked Tigers quarterback Maty Mauk in the third quarter, his ninth of the year. Maggitt's nine sacks now tie freshman #9 Derek Barnett for the team lead in 2014.
SPECIAL TEAMS
JUST KICKIN' IT
- With his 24 field goal attempts so far this season, #25 Aaron Medley passed Fuad Reveiz (1984) for ninth all-time in field goal attempts in a single season for Tennessee. He is now tied for seventh, along with James Wilhoit (2003) and Jeff Hall (1998).
- Medley's 18 successful field goal attempts in 2014 also passed Fuad Reveiz (1984) and James Wilhoit (2003) for ninth all-time in a single season. He is now tied for seventh with James Wilhoit (2006) and Alex Walls (2000).
- Medley's 18 field goals made are the second-most by a true freshman since Daniel Lincoln made 21 field goals in 2007.
- #27 Justin Coleman recovered Tennessee's onside kick with less than two minutes left in the fourth quarter. After review, the officials ruled that the ball did not travel 10 years prior to the recovery.
PUNTS BY DARR
- #43 Matt Darr punted six times for an average of 46.5 yards against Missouri. With a 55-yard punt in the first quarter, Darr has 16 games with punts of 50 yards or more, including 15 punts of 50-plus yards in his last eight games. On the season, Darr now has 27 punts inside the 20-yard line and 11 inside the 10-yard line.
- With a 48-yard punt in the first quarter, Darr put the ball on the one-yard line for Missouri to start their third possession of the game with the help of freshman #4 Vic Wharton.
CAREER NIGHT FOR BERRY
- #29 Evan Berry began the Vols' first half with a 35-yard kickoff return in the first quarter and a 58-yard return in the second quarter, marking his fifth-straight game with a kickoff return of 30-plus yards. With 121 return yards on four carries against the Tigers, Berry established a career high for return yards in a single game. Berry's previous high was three returns for 91 yards vs. Kentucky on Nov. 15, 2014.

UPON FURTHER REVIEW
- Originally ruled a fumble by #1 Jalen Hurd on a pass attempt from #11 Joshua Dobbs, the ruling was overturned to give the Vols first and 10.
- Ruled a fumble by #11 Joshua Dobbs and recovery by Missouri, the ruling on the field was upheld. Missouri took over possession at Tennessee's 40-yard line in the third quarter.
- On an onside kick attempt by Tennessee in the fourth quarter, the play was ruled illegal touching by the Vols. Upon review, it was ruled that a Missouri player came in contact with the ball. However, UT was also off sides on the play and had to re-kick.
- On UT's second onside kick attempt, #27 Justin Coleman recovered the ball with less than two minutes left in the fourth quarter. After review, the officials ruled that the ball did not travel 10 years prior to the recovery.
