KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- Tennessee quarterback Joshua Dobbs was named the National Player Of The Week by Athlon Sports on Sunday. Dobbs became the first Vol to post 300 passing yards and 100 rushing yards in the same game in a 45-42 comeback overtime win at South Carolina.
Dobbs gained 467 total yards of offense, the fourth-highest total in a game in Tennessee history as he threw for 301 and rushed for 166. Dobbs set the single-game record for rushing yards by a quarterback with 166. He broke the record held by Jimmy Streater of 150 vs. California (9/10/1977).
Dobbs accounted for five total touchdowns with three rushing and two passing. The last Vol quarterback to rush for three touchdowns in a game was Tee Martin vs. Georgia (10/9/1999).
Additionally, Dobbs Dobbs' 64 total plays are the sixth-most in a game in Tennessee history and the most since Casey Clausen's 67 vs. Clemson in the 2004 Peach Bowl.
