Tennessee Falls At #20 Georgia, 2-1

ATHENS, Ga.Cheyenne Spade scored in the 27th minute, but Tennessee could not overcome an early deficit, falling to No. 20 Georgia, 2-1, on Friday at UGA Soccer Stadium.
Tennessee (6-6, 1-3-0 SEC) battled hard in the second half to try to rally back from the first-half deficit, but Georgia (8-2-1, 3-1-1 SEC) held its ground to hold off several UT attacks. The Bulldogs had an 18-10 shot advantage in the game.
Georgia took a 1-0 lead off a corner kick from the left side in the 14th minute. Rachel Garcia's header off the corner was blocked by the UT defense, but Carli Shultis took the rebound near the 18 and rocketed a shot to the right side of the goal to give the Bulldogs a 1-0 lead.
The Bulldogs grew their lead in the 25th minute when Gabby Seiler broke into the right side of the box and scored on a shot to the left post.
Spade and Tennessee responded quickly after UGA's second goal. Shortly after subbing into the game in the 26th minute, Spade fired from about 15 yards out on the right side of the box to the right post to pull UT to within 2-1 in the 27th minute. The goal was Spade's third on the season and the seventh of her career.
Georgia had a 10-4 shot advantage and a 3-2 edge on corner kicks at the half.
In the 49th minute, UT had a good look at a goal when Amy Neal broke loose on a breakaway down the right side and sent a low cross inside the 18 to Anna McClung. McClung's shot to the right post was blocked.
Tennessee next heads to Auburn, Ala., to take on Auburn on Sunday at 3 p.m. ET. That game will feature live video broadcast on SEC Network +.
