Arkansas Edges UT 1-0 in Overtime

KNOXVILLE, Tenn.--Tennessee and Arkansas went to overtime on Friday, but UT came up short in a 1-0 loss as the Razorbacks' Claire Kelley scored in the 98th minute.
Tennessee (6-7-1, 1-4-1 SEC) outshot Arkansas (7-3-4, 3-1-2 SEC), 19-10 and had a 7-6 edge on corner kicks in the loss. UT is now 11-4-1 all-time against the Razorbacks.
UT had a 7-5 edge in shots in the first half and outshot Arkansas, 10-3 in the second half.
The Volunteers had two good looks at goals in the first half. In the 29th minute, Kiah Allen fired a shot from 25 yards out that went over the crossbar. In the 42nd minute, Susan Ferguson's shot from the 18 went wide right.
Tennessee was aggressive at the start of the second half. Carter turned away Amy Neal's shot in the 47th minute to the right post. Spade rocketed a shot from the 18 in the 48th minute and Carter made the save in the middle of the six-yard box.
Emily Morrow came close to scoring in the 54th minute, sending a rebound from the left side of the box near the left post with Carter making the save. Carter made another good save in the 69th minute, grabbing a header by Colleen Gawkins.
UT's best chance to score was in the 87th minute when Josie Jennings fired from the right side of the box and Carter made a diving save near the right post.
In the 98th minute, Gabby Santorio cleared a ball in from the right side with a header to the top of the 18. Kelley scored on a soft arcing shot to the right side of the goal.
Tennessee has two home games next weekend, hosting LSU on Oct. 17 and Vanderbilt on Oct. 19. Both games will feature broadcasts on SEC Network +.
